The story goes that when I was
one month old, my mother used water from
a stream that fed into Schroon Lake to make my formula. From that point
on, this small lake in up state New York and its surrounding area has
provided the context for many experiences that have been significant to
me. It was here that I learned how to swim, water ski, sail and drive a
motor boat. It was here that I met my first serious girl friend, began to
date, and announced my engagement to be married. It was here that I
enjoyed raising my children the most because during our many summer
vacations I had the most time to spend having fun with them. It is here
that we make our home in these retirement years and watch our
grandchildren enjoying the same adventures as I did, learning to swim
and boat, and camp and hike. Since Schroon lake is the theater in which
so many stages of my life have played out, there is a wealth of stories
and pictures that have accumulated over the years.
