MacroPictures An image that is a reproduction of an original (full size) image, created by using smaller images as pixels in the reproduced image. The smaller images are selected for their density and color characteristics and placed spatially in the reproduction by matching their color and density characteristics with the color and density of samples from the same spacial location in the original. The reproduction has a duel viewing mode. Close viewing reveals the smaller (pixel) images. Distance viewing reveals the original image. Process: Stage 1 Requantize the original by creating pixels that have the average density and color of equivalent spatial locations in the original. This process is commonly called resampling and produces a lower resolution version of the original. Stage 2 Find the average color and density of each smaller image to be used to modulate the reproduced image.
